The village lay before her, it's beauty breath taking. She really did love the village even if its people resented her. She sat on the roof of one of the highest buildings looking down at the rest of the village. She came to the spot often because of the memories the place held. It was a sad memory but it was also one of the few that she had of being wanted. The only people who really accepted her was her family. She swore that she would change that. Now apart of team three she knew that she would get her chance to change the minds of the people she cared for. She would do anything to protect the village and its people.
The twelve year old took out her two black fans with purple flower designs across it and started to work on some simple tricks to keep her wrist used to the feeling of the fans. Natsumi loved working with the fans and the sand. It was so easy to used and a great practice, even if the moves were simple and very contained. She sighed, finishing her little practice. The sand that she had been working with swiftly returned to the gourd that she kept on her back. Her Grandfathers gift was one she treasured. It was also a great help because no matter where she went the sand would always be with her. It helped her keep her family close to her heart.
She was about to leave when she heard someone approaching. In an instant the sand started to form a slight shield around her. There was never a moment when the sand did not react to someone else. Natsumi knew that she should be more trusting if she was to be liked one day by the rest of the villagers. That was going to take time and for now she rather be safe that sorry. She turned around to see who had ventured to her sanctuary.

The sun shone upon Autumn's face as he strode down the diverse streets of Sunagakure. It was the shinobi's day off today, but what was there to enjoy in this city? It was always the same. The civilians of this village would go out on their regular schedule, every day. They would then go chat with the same people they often chat with, every day. Every other day maybe they would buy herbs and food for their family, but how would that ever effect Autumn? In the midst of the people, Autumn had looked like an oversized kid in his plain white t-shirt and blue pants. He would often catch flances given to him by the parents and adults, but he didn't mind. Whatever they would say behind his back would absolutely mean nothing to him, it was his life, not theirs. Taking a deep breath of the dusty air, he impatiently maneuvered toward a vacant tree that had a nice, petite shadow just waiting to be occupied by someone. As he sat under the tree's shade, Autumn closed his eyes. Not at all did he feel sleepy, nor was he relaxed enough to take a nap in public. He just felt agitated, that's all. Hard to believe he had worked himself up over the break a few days ago, what was he thinking? ”Maybe I'm just too attached to the battlefield....” Shifting himself into a much more comfortable position Autumn let out a grunt before opening his eyes just a little bit, just to see what was out there. Once again, nothing.
Groaning, Autumn got up, and patted his pants to remove any dirt that got on it. Nonchalantly, the jounin removed himself from the shaded area, searching for something he could do once more. As he walked, he frequently stopped to areas such as stores, to window shop the unique foods that they would often sell everywhere. Sometimes during his window shopping, Autumn would silently curse at himself, for foolishly keeping his wallet back at his house. Even if he were to remember about the shop tomorrow, he knew he would fail to appear before this shop again. He had his father's features, but he definitely inherited his mother's spirit. She was always out of the house after she had retired from being a medic ninja, and she was almost never in the a place she visited twice. That was a fact.
As Autumn looked on, a distinct chakra caught his attention. Something about it made him shiver, but at the same time it sparked a flame of interest in his chest. Without thinking Autumn leapt into the air, disappearing from the eyes of whoever was around him at the moment. Feet now on a side of a building, the jounin gave another power leap, trying to locate the source of the chakra. What could he say? He was just like his mother. Free willed to the very last molecule.
In an instant, Autumn landed on his desired platform, and scanned the area. As he did, he spotted a girl, not to far away from him. It was her, definitely her. As he approached her, sand, as if they had a mind of their own, shielded the girl. Surprised, Autumn took a step back, trying to determine whether if he had just lost it completely, or if he was completely sane, and that floating sand actually exists? Click. ”Isn't she the....” His mind than seemed to have told itself to shut up or something because the next thing Autumn knew, he was already talking.
”Hi, how are you doing?” He had heard many stories about how the Shusaku Jinchuriki was terrifying as well as a murderer. Suprisingly, the civilians seemed to have believed all those rumors without a second thought. ”And can I know what you're doing up here?” Autumn then took a small step forward, and then another small step forward, then another. What the hell was he doing?!

She was ready to defend herself if necessary. She knew how to keep herself safe and not hurting others in the process. When she was younger people would pick on her and try to hurt her but because of the sand she was never physically harmed. However, mentally, it did have a toll on her. With her mother and father not around she did not want to bother her aunt all that much and she especially did not want to bother her Grandfather. She knew that they would want to hear about anyone who hurt, or tried to hurt her, but she wouldn't say. She knew that the words and the hate would not fade from the villagers hearts that quickly. She needed them to see her for who she was and not what she was. It was going to be difficult but if her Grandfather did it then she could as well.
Natsumi really respected and looked up to her Grandfather. Her father used to tell her that she and her Grandfather were the same, that he was the one person in the village who would understand her the most. Him and others like him from other villages. Natsumi always listened to her Grandfathers advice and was very enthusiastic when he taught her a new skill or jutsu with the sand that was always by her side. He gave her the gourd that was now slung on her back when she was placed in a team. That and her two fans and the sand were her most valued treasures. The fans were her mothers, the gourd from her Grandfather, and the protection of the sand like that of her father. The sand that she learned to infuse with her own chakra making it stronger.
She looked over the man who appeared on the roof. His greeting was not something she was used to outside her immediate family. Most just took one look at her and walked away or would say something mean and hurtful. "Hello? I'm...fine...Who are you?" She asked saying the first part slowly in a question like manor before asking in a normal tempo. She didn't like the fact that he was walking closer to her. The sand started to move faster around her, ready to strike or put up a block if this person decided to attack. "Am I not aloud to be up here? And could you please stop walking towards me?" She stated more so demanding the last part than asking. She was up there for personal reasons and it didn't concern him.

”Autumn, just plain Autumn.” His response came out smoothly, which was what he had been going for, short and direct. Autumn grinned as he introduced himself. He couldn't really tell if his grin was professional or sincere, but he knew he grinned at the least. With his grin of course, came smaller steps toward the girl. Yes, the sand was quickly forming around her quite fast and precise, but he had a feeling she wasn't what she was told to be. Unless of course, she was pretending to be shocked to lower his guard for an attack. Of course, she was acting and struck right then and there then well, she would be one hell
[/b] of an actor wouldn't she? Chances were though, that situation hopefully wasn't going to happen. "Am I not aloud to be up here? And could you please stop walking towards me?" Autumn smiled. Listening to her questionish-demand, the jounin stopped walking towards her and stood where he was at without a second thought. Maybe it was something about the girl, or maybe it was just something about today's mood, but Autumn felt like he couldn't possibly put up a serious front even if he had tried his hardest. He felt carefree and aloof, sort of at least. Running his hand through his hair, Autumn thought of a nice response to her question, her first question. When he had thought up of one, he chuckled lightly at himself. ”I don't know, should we ask the owner of this building?” Yup, corny right? How could a joke sound so stupid, like jokes are meant to be stupid but this one was different. It was just plain stupid, literally. ”I'm only up here for a chat no need to feel so alarmed.” Taking quick glances at the sand and back to the girl, Autumn kept his smile, hoping that she hadn't realized he was looking. He didn't realize it himself as well, until like, right when he noticed he was staring at sand rather than the girl. ”What's your name by the way? And sorry for asking these questions, just feel like I need someone to talk to...” notes ; Bleh, sorry for the sketchy ( and short ) post, and I'll get to you ASAP for your next post. Autumn, just plain Autumn He introduced himself and it was almost shocking. It was strange but she didn't get the feeling that he was going to do anything. That still didn't mean that she was going to lower her guard. At least not completely. She knew that the sand was the greatest defense, no matter what it always blocked someone else's attack before it reached her. I don't know, should we ask the owner of this building? She did think it was kind of a weird statement. But it also meant that he wasn't looking to get her into any trouble. Well that was a relief because she really didn't want any trouble and get scolded by her grandfather and aunt, nor her squad leader. It was kind of neat being able to say that. She ginned slightly as she spoke. "Well just plain Autumn, I could have sworn that this was a public building" She really had no idea who the building belonged to but she wasn't one to just let such a fun opportunity slip. Not that many people bothered to talk with her.
I'm only up here for a chat no need to feel so alarmed, well that was new. She figured that this perosn, Autumn, had already determined that she was a Jinchuriki from the way he looked at the sand and then back to her. Most people would be scared but he only seemed curious. What's your name by the way? And sorry for asking these questions, just feel like I need someone to talk to... So it was her turn now. Well it was only polite to tell others ones name after asking for theirs. "Natsumi, Sinate Natsumi. And I don't mind catting for a bit. It would be a nice change of pace" She stated, making the sand return to the gourd on her back. She really did hope nothing would happen considering how strange this encounter was but she liked the change. Maybe for once she wasn't being looked at like a monster but a perosn.

"Well just plain Autumn, I could have sworn that this was a public building" Autumn slowly nodded in agreement to her statement even though he was completely clueless whether if she was right or wrong. ”Hey! She's grinning!” Grinning back, the jounin felt an immediate wall of tension being torn down. And it wasn't those boring, irritating, professional grins at all either, but who in the bloody world gave the right for Autumn to say that she was grinning from the heart? He was no mind reader, nor was he a genius at telling whether a grin was fake or not. At least she wasn't a brat, Autumn had met his fair share of them and guess what?! Out of all the brats he met, he hadn't met one brat that he could even call a “cute kid”. They all stank, period. He shuddered at the remembrance of all those “brats”. Despite the constant warm weather in Sunagakure, the jounin managed to produce a shudder. It wasn't just a shudder, chills went down his spine as well, mentally at least. They were really, really, REALLY, that horrible and horrible was probably taking it easy.
"Natsumi, Sinate Natsumi. And I don't mind catting for a bit. It would be a nice change of pace" Tilting his head a smidge, Autumn couldn't help but smile at her. At least they agreed on something similiar, which happens to be chatting......being a change of pace. The jounin then imagined someone staring at him in disbelief, before sarcastically saying “nice”, without hiding the look of pitying a certain someone Autumn on his/her face. Such a bright and imaginative mind, right? Shaking off all the negative thoughts in his head, Autumn noticed that the sand had retreated back into Natsumi's gourd. Taking her invitation, he took large steps forward before he stopped and sat down, to the right of where Natsumi stood. Autumn looked up, and stared at the endless sea of clouds. Perhaps it's just him, or perhaps everyone does this, but he closely stared at each cloud, as if he were trying to decipher a secret code that was written in the sky which had taken the form of the clouds. Looking at Natsumi, Autumn started to open his mouth to tell her about the clouds, and what he thought of them, but stopped. ”I'll tell her later, too soon right now I guess...” Autumn trusted Natsumi, or at least, to certain extents. Which was amazing really, meeting an absolute stranger and trusting her ten minutes into the conversation was really a feat for Autumn. It just felt like it was not the right time for him to start talking away about his beliefs and what not. Maybe when he knew her more or something....
”Well, what are you waiting for? Sit!” Autumn gave Natsumi a smile before he then continued on with his “cloud-gazing”. A distant look was as if by magic, was casted upon the jounin's face. Looking toward Natsumi's direction, Autumn opened his mouth to continue along with their conversation. ”So, how was your day?”

Well, what are you waiting for? Sit!. She hesitated for a moment, looking at the person next to her. She was usually cautions when meeting new people and talking with them especially when they were older that her. She didn't like it that she had to be cautious but with the way most treated her it was almost unavoidable. She had yet to meet up with her team mates and didn't know who the sensei was. That was a bit nerve recking because she wanted to know what type of people they were. Her grandfather assured her that it was going to be fine. She did get along with other fairly well when given the chance. She was nothing like the monster that many associated her with. Sure she had the beast's chakra inside her but that did not mean she acted like it. She was no killer and knew that one day everyone in the village would acknowledge that. Natsumi decided it was alright to sit. It was a beautiful day with the partly cloudy sky giving the illusion of serenity.
So, how was your day? That was one question she was not sure how to answer. For her it was a normal day. Simple practices, people ignoring her the same as every day. She was hoping that the little routine would end when she started training with the squad. "Just another boring, uneventful day like most days when there is nothing needed of you" She stated after a moment. Her voice was like a sigh as she spoke but there was also a hint of humor in her words as she smiled. "What of you? What has your day been like?" She asked in a more interested tone that just restating a question. This was to be a conversation and that only worked if both sides were interested in what was being spoken. She looked up at the sky thinking about how things had been really quiet lately. It was kind of nice.

Autumn waited for her to sit down, unaware that she was hesitating at first. The sky was breath taking, the scenery was almost as if it popped out straight from a painting with the artist of the painting aspiring to make it purposely look like a perfect moment of nature's simple yet amazing beauty. It was a wonder why human beings couldn't just stare up one day and realize it, instead of just ignoring it as if it was absolutely nothing to them. It had reminded him of his earlier days back with his parents, like when he was five. Just a wee child back then, almost zero knowledge of what was happening around him. That age was when he had ignorantly colored the sky green on his paper, which after he became enlightened about the sky being blue by his mother. He had gotten into a fight with her that day as well, because of his idea that he was a know-it-all back then. Autumn soon learned about the sky weeks later of course, by his mother.
"Just another boring, uneventful day like most days when there is nothing needed of you" This was totally true. Like, totally, TOTALLY true. Having a day off just killed a part of Autumn inside because of his lack of work. He would have spent the day chatting with his mom if he could, but she was supposedly “out” that day. So what did he do? Nothing much, just taping the scraps of will he had in his conscience that told him to stop being a coach potato and travel the streets of Sunagakure which wasn't really that fun by the way. But at least he had met Natsumi, who accepted to chat with him. "What of you? What has your day been like?" Taking a second to think about an answer, Autumn tilted his head. It was not really like he didn't have an answer, it was more like he just didn't know how to word his answer at all. He didn't want to sound rude or serious at least, he wanted to sound more friendly and kind.
”Hmmmm.....well, at first it was horrible. I couldn't really find much to do but wander the streets of this village....not the best way to spend your time I might add. Then, I met you, and I guess you could say it could better.” Autumn felt awkward giving out an iff-ish form of a compliment towards Natsumi. Maybe because he just wasn't so used to giving out compliments, because you know, he was a pretty awesome expert at telling people off. Like the brats for an example.
”A-anyways the sky looks pretty nice by the way....” Hastily, Autumn covered his previous answer with a random statement because he had noticed that he felt a rush of blood to his cheeks. ”.....And the clouds look a lot like cotton candy right?”
notes ; Sorry if the ending felt a bit rushed, got some homework to do. T_T

Then, I met you, and I guess you could say it could better Natsumi wasn't really sure how to respond to his answer. All things considered she never really received any complement from someone outside her family and even then it was very little. People in the village did not care so much as to glance at her let alone give her a complement. She just smiled "Well at least the entire day wont be bad" She stated hoping that was enough. She wasn't very good at thank yous nor did she know if it was really necessary at that moment.
A-anyways the sky looks pretty nice by the way She was glad for the change of topic. "Yes it is. It is amazing how alive the sky can look. Almost unreal in a sense" She replied as she looked up at the sky. It was really a sight. And the clouds look a lot like cotton candy right? Natsumi started to laugh. "Cotton Candy? Well I guess they could be. I have never heard anyone compare clouds to cotton candy" This Autumn was a very interesting character. Natsumi was very glad that he decided to talk with her. Not only was it a nice change but it was starting to be a very fun conversation.
Natsumi turned her attention back to the sky. She had stopped laughing but was still smiling. This time it was a true smile. Not that she was faking it before but now she had a reason to smile. She hoped that her team mates would be as interesting as this person.
